One of our goals is for Powhatan County to be a safe haven
where our children and grandchildren can
grow-up, play, get a job, buy a home, raise a family and worship as they please.

Our Mission
We need to protect our quality of streams and water quality, by enforcing our wet land regulations and
strict enforcement of erosion control practices.
We need to include in our development plans with developers to
set aside areas for needed services like fire departments, rescue squad facilities, public use areas such as recreation areas
and churches.

|
As we prepare for the future we need to assure that
our Emergency Services are ready. We should look at ways to effectively fund for the equipment that they need to do
their job. We need to assure that they are offered the newest and most up to date technology training that they can
receive to assist them in being able to meet the county's growing requirements and ability to respond to those needs.
We need to look at ways to be more efficient with the present equipment, maybe we need to operate a central maintenance facility
to perform the maintenance and services on all county vehicles.
Need to effectively plan for the future transportation
plans. As state budgets are continuing to be cut, what is the future of maintaining our present roads and funds for
future up-grading of our transportation network for the future?
As we update our Comprehensive Plan should we not
look for a balance between residential growth and commercial growth. Extensive planning needs to take place today for
ten and twenty years from now. Let us not be a county that has no plan and operate on crisis manage.

We need to have a Governing body for this county that
will work together for the purpose of the betterment of Powhatan County and the needs of the Citizens of Powhatan County.
We are blessed to have some of the most active and volunteer minded citizens that a county could hope for. Our
youth recreation programs, Powhatan Soccer, PYAA Baseball, Softball, Football and Cheerleaders are to be commended on the
programs that they oversee and operate. This is a tremendous savings to the county by saving the cost of a recreation
Department to operate the programs that our volunteer do.
This is the same with our Fire Departments, Rescue Squads,
YMCA and so many other organizations.
Now is the time that we need guidance from our citizens and volunteers, to
help in our planning for the future.
TEAMWORK is the answer that we need for our county's
successful future.
